Hey Block B and G,
I hope you all are doing well. This message is just an addition to the official letter that I have attached. I will be sending this first letter out to everyone's email, and will be posting to www.droppinenglish.weebly.com . Please make sure you and your parents read and understand this letter, and that you let me know if you have any questions. I am sorry for the initial spam of info; in later weeks I will likely only publish info through Classroom or my website once things get rolling.
Ok, specific to this week, here is your homework:
1. Get onto Google Classroom and check in with me. A quick "hey" or link to a dumb meme in the general stream will suffice.
2. Get any Othello Unit Activity finished and submitted to me; that stuff counts as well. I am posting an updated list of what you need to do. Anything scratched off, you don't need to worry about; anything highlighted you still need to hand in. I have the play on PDF if you need it.
4. For any BIG assessment that you haven't completed with me (Test/ Essay/ Project), or if you think your mark is below 50%, we will need to have a chat about that sometime soon. I will be in touch.
5. We are finishing the year with a novel study. For next week you need to decide which novel you are reading:
Fahrenheit 451 (short, easier, but the last 2/3s is a bit slow) - 170 pages
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13079982-fahrenheit-451
1984 (longer, medium difficulty, but ESSENTIAL reading in this day and age) - 310 pages
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40961427-1984
Oryx and Crake (longer, and more complex than 1984, but Atwood's style is incomparable) - 370 pages
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/46756.Oryx_and_Crake
PLEASE LET ME KNOW THIS WEEK WHICH BOOK YOU CHOOSE. I will get you the PDF. You will have a chance to work through these novels as part of a small group, but the larger the group, the more work you will have to do. 3-5 people would be ideal. If you want to work alone or in pairs, that is ok too.
I know I missed something, but I think this should be enough for now. No doubt you all will have an overdose of information by the time this week is out. Let's take things slow for now, and work together through this.
Take care,
Pike
