Ok... so far we have looked at different types of stories and characters. We looked at disaster stories (Floods) and why they might be similar, and we have seen that myths across different lands and times use familiar character types, like that of the Trickster.
In order to make this week's lesson as simple and fun as possible, let's look at another character archetype, that of the HERO.
Instructions- Part 1:
Respond to this question with FIVE ADJECTIVES - EACH DIFFERENT IN MEANING - that you feel describe your idea of a hero. I will not help you here; you are big enough to do this on your own. At the beginning of your post, write the adjectives IN ALL CAPS, so we can read them.
Instructions- Part 2:
Choose a movie from any platform (Netflix, Amazon, Disney +, Youtube, DVD) that features a hero. Watch that movie, and under your adjectives in your post, explain how a character from that movie displays those attributes or characteristics. A simple paragraph should do for this.
I AM HOPING everyone's ideas of what a hero is will vary slightly. Don't go for the cookie cutter answer! I am also hoping that YOU CAN PROVE that myths and stories have the power to define how we see ourselves in the world. Just look at the bad rap Pandora and Eve got, compared to how women are depicted in the stories we tell now (hint hint!).
Remember, you don't need to make a new doc. Just put your work here. I am looking forward to reading your reviews!
